not a mindfulness app
pick attention, relax or sleep and press start. your pause pal closes its eyes with you. if someone else is sitting right now, they sit beside you.

hold the button. go on.
how it works
attention, relax or sleep. then how long: five, ten or fifteen minutes. sleep goes ten, twenty, thirty.
the screen folds into your pal’s eyes and they close. a voice drops in now and then, then leaves you with room to think, or not.
see your week, leave a note for whoever’s next, go back to your day. sleep sessions just end quietly and bank themselves.

your pause pal
the two bars in bebored’s pause button are its eyes. sitting up for attention, drooping for relax, lying down for sleep, closed when you close yours. it sits when you sit and it looks a little like you. your mind will wander. that’s allowed. your pal won’t judge.
illustration, not a live room
together
open bebored and you’re in a room with, at most, two other people who are in the app right now. if they’re sitting, they sit beside you with their eyes closed. if they’re awake, tap to wave. everyone keeps their own goal and timer. nobody waits for anybody.
encouragement
after a sit you can leave one of thirty preset notes. the next person who opens bebored alone finds it on their home screen, stamped with your pal and roughly how long ago. no free text chat: you pick one, done. reading is passive. the only reply is to leave your own.
“a few minutes, just for you.”
the boredom pass
core sessions and the social bits are free: every goal, every starting length, your pal, the rooms and the notes. the boredom pass is one purchase, no subscription. it unlocks two small things and keeps the lights on.
your boredom.
your rules.
pick the voice
switch between Sarah and Brian.
stay a little longer
add five quiet minutes to attention and relax sessions.
Built by a fellow meditator on a mission to get more people doing a little less. Your pass helps make that happen.
one purchase on iphone, android or in your phone’s browser. buying or restoring it in the browser needs a saved account (an email code), and once saved the pass follows you across devices.
questions
yes. core sessions and the social features are free: every goal, every starting length, your pause pal, the rooms and the notes. there is one optional boredom pass: a single purchase, no subscription, which unlocks the voice choice and the +5 minutes button.
no. you start as a guest with a random pal and a random name, and you can meditate within seconds. if you later want your pal, history and pass to follow you to another phone, tablet or browser, you can save your account with an email code from settings. that is the only reason to ever type an email.
at most two other people, the ones in your room right now. they see your pal, your pal’s name and, where available, a small flag for your approximate country. the country comes from your connection, never from GPS, and you can hide it. you can also sit unseen, and still see notes.
no. you can wave at someone who is awake, send one of a small set of reactions to someone you actually sat with, and leave one of thirty preset notes for whoever comes next. there is no free text chat, no feed, no followers and no inbox. pal names are the one thing people type, so you can block or report anyone.
nothing you have to deal with. if they are actually sitting, their pal appears beside yours with its eyes closed. no sound, no buzz, no popup. everyone keeps their own goal and timer; nobody waits for anybody. afterwards you see who shared your pause.
bebored is made for the device in your pocket. on a phone or tablet, use the app store, google play, or just your browser at beboredapp.com. on a computer you get this page and a QR code to hand off to your phone.
no. bebored is a few quiet minutes with a timer, a voice and a small creature. it is not medical advice and not a substitute for professional care. if you are in crisis, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line.
